Carp & Linden Pub 2 at Don Q's Badgers

DON Q'S BADGERS WINS 8 - 7

For the second time this season, Badger captain Reno King was forced to win a hill-hill game to defeat Carp & Linden Pub 2. Carp built a 6-3 lead with the help of two-game winners Chris Atkins and Art Ekern. Reno's second win of the match sparked the Badgers to a run of four straight that got them to the hill at 7-6. Will Kellogg then beat Terri Bentzinger to force a hill-hill game. Ekern had several chances to finish King off, but Reno escaped to improve the 2nd place Badgers record to 16-3. This was the third straight match (and seventh overall) that the Badgers have won 8-7. Carp & Linden Pub 2 (9-10) fell to 8th place after the loss.

Don Q's Dragons at Break Time Tainted Nuns

DON Q'S DRAGONS WINS 8 - 7

1st place Don Q's Dragons (17-2) got all they could handle from 10th place Break Time Tainted Nuns (4-15), but the Dragons were able to survive thanks in part to three wins by Mike Rys. The Tainted Nuns, led by three-game winner Meagan Soloff, were never more than a game behind the Dragons for the entire match. Meagan's last win got the Nuns first to the hill, but Jack Poet then beat Avonell Ogden to tie the match at 7-7. Dana Ochoa broke for the Nuns in the hill-hill game, but Rys was able to beat Ochoa to give the Dragons the victory.

Don Q's Slow Start at Carpinteria Knights

DON Q'S SLOW START WINS 8 - 7

3rd place Don Q's Slow Start (15-4) was out for revenge in their match against 5th place Carpinteria Knights (13-6) The Knights had four table runs in their week 6 win over Slow Start, but in this match, turnabout was fair play. Al Vafa had three table runs, captain Damian Rebman had one table run, and Don Q's escaped Carpinteria with an 8-7 victory. This was an exciting match from start to finish. Rebman opened with his league-leading 15th table run of the season, and Don Q's jumped out to a 2-0 lead. After two-game winners Paul Edmunds and Scott Santella evened the match at 2-2, Vafa got his first table run to put Don Q's back on top. Edmunds' table run in game 8 evened the score just before Vafa broke and ran on Santella. The Knights took the next two games and briefly enjoyed their only lead of the match, 6-5. Jack Poet beat James Maertens to tie the score at 6-6, then Vafa's third table run put Don Q's on the hill at 7-6. Santella beat Rebman in game 14 to force a hill-hill game between Carp captain Dave Deanda and Jeremy Tessmer. Tessmer made a beautiful kick shot on the 8-ball to give Slow Start the win. This was Vafa's third career perfect match, and his three runs tied him with Damian for the league lead. His 50 points vaulted him ahead of Rebman and into to lead in 'A' Division. The loss ends a four-match win streak for the Knights.

Moose Lodge 1 at Don Q's 1

DON Q'S 1 WINS 13 - 2

4th place Don Q's 1 (15-4) showed no mercy to 9th place Moose Lodge 1 (7-12) in a 13-2 beating. Brandon Teris led Don Q's with three wins and a break-n-run. Brian Shillington and Jim Holloway joined Teris in the three-win circle. Tanya Topinko and Mario Reyes had the two Moose game wins. This was the sixth consecutive match win for Don Q's 1.

Sportsman Nuggets at Uptown Lounge Otters

SPORTSMAN NUGGETS WINS 10 - 5

The 6th place Sportsman Nuggets (12-7) doubled up on the 11th place Uptown Lounge Otters (3-16), winning 10-5. Anthony Saenz and Derrick Craig combined for six wins to lead Sportsman. Salvador Ibarra led the Otters with two game wins. The victory ends a three-match Nugget losing streak.

Uptown Lounge 1 at Monty's 2

UPTOWN LOUNGE 1 WINS 13 - 2

Uptown Lounge 1 (9-10) moved up to 7th place with their 13-2 victory at 12th place Monty's 2 (2-17). Uptown took the first six games of the match and cruised to the finish line. Barnaby Draper, Eric Kaiser, and Pete Conover had three wins each and teammate Don Perkins had a break-and-run. Justin Drewisch and Rikki Byers had the two game wins for Monty's.

Break Time Nuts 'n Honey at Break Time Warriors

BREAK TIME WARRIORS WINS 11 - 4

After Josh Mullen's first of his two wins gave Nuts & Honey a 1-0 lead, break-and-runs by Harry Peltz and Kez Gillatt sparked the Warriors to a seven game win streak. Nuts & Honey won the last two games of the second frame, then the Warriors closed out the contest by winning the next four games. Brendan Mackey ended the Warrior scoring with his sixth table run of the season. 1st place Break Time Warriors improved to 18-1. 12th place Break Time Nuts 'n Honey fell to 3-16.

Break Time TBD at Cliff Room 1

CLIFF ROOM 1 WINS 9 - 6

5th place Cliff Room 1 (13-6) ended a three-match losing streak by beating 11th place Break Time TBD (5-14) by a 9-6 score. Tyler Rosenow and Devin Beach both went 3-for-3 to lead Cliff Room. TBD was never far behind in this match, but they could never seem to put together any long win streaks. Brandon Luehrs and Steve Myers led Break Time with two game wins each.

Don Q's 2 at Sportsman 1

SPORTSMAN 1 WINS 9 - 6

4th place Sportsman 1 (13-6) was visited by a surprisingly tough Don Q's 2 squad on Tuesday. Throughout the first 12 games, Don Q's never trailed by more than one game, and they briefly held a lead at the start of the second frame. Leana Finley's third win sparked Sportsman to a match-ending three-game rally that was the difference. The biggest surprise for Don Q's was two-game winner Ashley Robinson. Ashley notched her first career table run by running out on league president Chris Ackler. Finley got her second table run of the season in the second frame, and she currently enjoys a nine-game win streak. Teammate Bob McLean joined Leana in the three-win circle. This was the fifth straight win for Sportsman 1. With the loss, Don Q's 2 (5 - 14) falls behind the Frogs and into 10th place.

Mel's Lounge 1 at Moosekateers

MOOSEKATEERS WINS 13 - 2

The 3rd place Moosekateers (13-6) won the last eleven games in their match against 8th place Mel's Lounge 1 (7-12). The Moose got three wins each from Martin Hernandez, Fidencio Herrera, and Gerardo Guerrero. Bobby Selner and Rick Coe scored the two Mel's game wins.

Monty's Misfits at Don Q's Sharks

DON Q'S SHARKS WINS 9 - 6

Two teams desperate to keep up with the pack met Tuesday at Don Q's as the Don Q's Sharks (12-7) hosted the Monty's Misfits (12-7). The Sharks had revenge on their mind due to a 9-6 loss to the Misfits in week 6. Monty's opened the match with wins in 5 of the first 6 games, but behind three-game winner Cyril Muckenhirn, the Sharks were able to circle around and take the next eight games and the match. The Misfits were led by three-game winner Jorge Salcedo. Salcedo has won seven straight games after dropping 8 of 10. As a result of the match, the 6th place Sharks and the 7th place Misfits trade places in the standings.

Moose Lodge 2 at Mel's Cartel

MOOSE LODGE 2 WINS 12 - 3

2nd place Moose Lodge 2 (15-4) had few problems handing 13th place Mel's Cartel (3-16). The Cartel rebounded from an early 2-0 deficit to tie the score at 2-2, but the Moose took 10 of the last 11 games en route to a 12-3 victory. Ed Guzman and Juan Manzo had three-win nights for the Moose Lodge. Guzman and teammate Ismael Huerta had back-to-back break-and-runs in the second frame. Sergio Garcia, Cisco Arias, and Steve Walker had the three Cartel game wins.

Creekside Snakes at Creekside Frogs

CREEKSIDE FROGS WINS 11 - 4

The Creekside Frogs (6-13) got their biggest win total of the season in an 11-4 victory over the 13th place Creekside Snakes (0-19). John Campa and Albert Covarrubias combined for six wins to power the Frog attack. Two wins by Nic Lopez helped the Snakes keep the score close in the first frame, but the Frogs were able to leap all over the Snakes in the last two frames. With the win, the Frogs move ahead of Don Q's 2 and into 9th place.
